The Fair Housing Act

The Fair Housing Act, enacted in 1968 and amended in 1988, prohibits discrimination in housing based on protected characteristics. Under this law, it is illegal to:

    Intimidate, threaten, or interfere with anyone exercising their fair housing rights

Reasonable Accommodations & Modifications

We are committed to providing reasonable accommodations and allowing reasonable modifications for individuals with disabilities.

Reasonable Accommodations

Changes to rules, policies, practices, or services to ensure equal access to housing.

Examples: Service animal policies, assigned parking spaces, rent payment arrangements

Reasonable Modifications

Physical changes to the property to ensure full use and enjoyment of the premises.

Examples: Wheelchair ramps, grab bars, widened doorways, lowered counters

All applicants are subject to the same qualification criteria, including:

  • • Written notification of decision

Report Housing Discrimination

If you believe you have experienced housing discrimination, you have the right to file a complaint.

You may also file a complaint with the Texas Workforce Commission Civil Rights Division:

Note: You have one year from the date of the alleged discrimination to file a complaint with HUD.
